What is the Peer support line?

Many Veterans are often reluctant to speak with anyone who is “unable to understand” the mental and physical challenges that are faced daily. Veterans are hesitant to discuss issues such as mental health, relationships with family and friends, and barriers to regain sustainability. Veterans are trained to "suck it up" and keep their “malfunctions” to themselves. Hudson Valley National Center for Veteran Reintegration (HVNCVR) understands the process and journey that takes each one of us through a devastating experience.

HVNCVR Peer support line provides resources, a connection to the surrounding community, as well as a friendly ear. Combating the daily challenges that may become barriers is not an easy step for many of us. Our non-crisis phone line with video option is operated by Veterans who have been through challenges and overcame many of these obstacles. HVCVR Peer Support Volunteers offer a non-judgmental environment that allows each caller to openly discuss their concerns. Peer Support Volunteers will listen and properly refer each caller to resources that can help provide important information.

Most importantly, we are here to listen. During off-hours, you are welcome to leave a message, or fill out the secure form below, we will reply the next day that the office is staffed.
